Want to fight climate change effectively? Here’s where to donate your money.

The problem is that if you want to cut greenhouse gas emissions, it may be quite difficult to figure out how to spend your money properly. There are a plethora of environmental groups to choose from, but how can you figure out which ones are the most effective?

A list of seven of the most high-impact, cost-effective, and evidence-based organizations may be found below. The Environmental Defense Fund, the Nature Conservancy, and the Natural Resources Defense Council are not included since most large organizations are already well-funded. In view of several criteria: relevance, tractability, and neglect, the organizations listed below appear to be doing something extremely promising.

Important targets for change are ones that drive a big portion of global emissions. Tractable problems are ones where we can actually make progress right now. And neglected problems are ones that aren’t already getting a big influx of cash from other sources like the government or philanthropy, and so could really use money from smaller donors.

1) Clean Air Task Force

The Clean Air Task Force (CATF) has fought to reduce air pollution in all forms through regulation at the state and federal levels in the United States since its inception 25 years ago. It successfully fought to minimize pollution from coal-fired power plants, assisted in the establishment of diesel, shipping, and methane emission restrictions and sought to limit CO2 emissions from the electricity industry.

CATF also promotes the implementation of cutting-edge, underutilized low- and zero-carbon technologies, such as advanced nuclear power and super-hot rock geothermal energy.CATF is notable not just for its significant effect on US climate policy, but also for being an environmental pioneer. It was one of the first big environmental organizations to publicly advocate against overlooked super pollutants such as methane, which plays a critical but underappreciated role in the continuing climate disaster.

2) Greenpeace Philippines

The main goal of Greenpeace Philippines is to protect natural landscapes, species, and more from environmental threats such as perilous waste imports, coal projects, and illegal logging. Aside from promoting ecological farming, this volunteer-based group also holds campaigns against the land, air, and water pollution.

Greenpeace's presence has aided in the protection of the Filipino people's fundamental rights to a healthy and balanced environment. Greenpeace has worked to champion renewable energy, combat illegal fishing and campaign for clean seas, support and amplify the Filipinos' call for climate justice, and call for the elimination of toxic chemicals in our environment since opening its office in Manila on March 1, 2000, with the help of its allies and communities. As the Philippines aspires to grow and develop towards a sustainable future, Greenpeace Philippines continues to make a positive difference in the lives of millions of Filipinos.
